“In everybody’s life, there’s a point of no return. And in a very few cases, a point where you can’t go forward anymore. And when we reach that point, all we can do is quietly accept the fact. That’s how we survive.”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
‘Kafka on the shore’ is one of the strangest yet, the most engaging and magical pieces I’ve read. A fugue of emotions and it follows no rule. When you start reading you will definitely ask yourself “What the hell am I reading? At first, you resist, but after a while, you understand that your struggle is pointless, so you give in. You read you feel, you try to understand, you try to make sense. And you know what? You love it.
This novel is about self-discovery of 15-year-old boy Kafka Tamura who runs away from home and an illiterate old man Nakata. An inter connected story of two different men.
“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.” – Haruki Murakami
So I can’t relate to the reviews of this book on good reads. It is something you have to experience yourself. So I anyway read it and loved it.
P.S: Complex but strangely peaceful. Definitely a page-turner.
“Closing your eyes isn’t going to change anything. Nothing’s going to disappear just because you can’t see what’s going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That’s the kind of world we live in. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won’t make time stand still.”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
Thanks for this review. I’ll read it. I loved the first quote.

Every Murakami Book will give you something to ponder about. Norwegian Wood was my first book of Murakami and I am still not over it.

I just finished reading it! That was my first book of Murakami . And I am reading Hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world at the moment although I must admit some of his concepts are hard for me to grasp.
